The 30th Fall for Greenville Festival Opens Today, Greenville SC
The 30th Fall for Greenville festival opens today, Friday October 14th and will run through Sunday, October 16th. Bon Secours St Francis Health System is the main sponsor of the event. Talk about drawing a crowd – over 150,000 people are expected here this weekend to enjoy the culinary aromas and tastes of more than 200 different menu items offered by over 40 restaurants, while enjoying the sounds of music from 6 different stages. Food and music, what’s not to like about this!
I am relieved that the downtown district of Greenville has become the pulsing heartbeat of the Upstate with more restaurants and entertainment venues than you can shake a stick at. I remember well the first time my husband and I visited Greenville back in 1993 when we were deciding whether or not to choose the Upstate as our new home. Back then there was nothing, and I mean nothing to like about the downtown district. We were shocked as we walked up and down Main Street to see the majority of store fronts boarded up. There was a nary a soul to be found walking down the streets back then at 11AM on a Sunday morning. Understandably so since there was little to no enticement to “hang out” downtown. Coming from the northeast, we considered downtown Greenville to be “dead, desolate, and unwelcoming. A place we had little interest of revisiting.” Ha! We’re we wrong!
It didn’t take long for the revitalization to kick into full gear. Now Greenville is The Place to enjoy dining, entertainment, leisurely walks, window shopping, and ice cream cones. It’s the place to bring your friends and family whether or not there is a festival taking place. If you do come this weekend you can enjoy wine tasting, beer tasting, culinary demonstrations, cake decorator’s competition, bartender’s mix-off, jalepeno pepper eating contest, dessert competitions and more! Bring the kids to E Broad St where Zaxby’s Kids Area will have loads of rides and activities for them to enjoy.
Do you really want to stay home and clean house this weekend? I didn’t think so
Our weather will be too beautiful for you to ignore the opportunity to spend time outdoors at the 30th Fall for Greenville Festival.
